Fire is the consumptive element, it devours and destroys its subject, literally transforming it into ash. Gone is the former incarnation, transformed to a lighter material, able to catch flight in the wind or be absorbed into the earth. Fire facilitates radical transformation as it digests and eliminates any semblance of what existed before.
The Elements of Transformation
When we observe the earth's transformative patterns, we can see that rebirth isn't always pretty or painless. But when we can relate our own transformative patterns to the natural cycles of change around us, we are able to observe renewal as a universal condition. Connecting to this larger sense of the evolution process not only takes us out of our myopic mindset, but it gives us a chance to give context to the specificities of our experience that can feel insurmountable.
